Hector Bustos Biography

Statement From Artist's Wife and Family: Jose Hector Bustos - 1930 - 2004, a native of Columbia, was Grandmother Jean's devoted and much loved husband for 28 years. In addition to being a consumate musician and fine artist he was also a wonderful healer and teacher of metaphysics in his own language.

He often travelled with Adasti and helped her in both a practical and supportive role. His paintings, characteristic of naïf art, are extremely detailed, filled with intricate patterns and brilliant, saturated colors--in essence, fine naïf art.

J. Hector Bustos, internationally recognized for his work, has had 21 exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Canada. His work is utterly inspiring, beautiful and classically naïf. Although Hector's work follows traditional guidelines for the genre of Naïf art, his work is highly individual and frequently contains spiritual and metaphysical messages woven subtly into charming images of jungle animals and simple village events.

Hector's art takes us into a world of childlike joy, communion with nature and the gentle rythmn of a country village.
